"RADIO AND TELEVISION BROADCASTING AND COPYRIGHT LAW" PANEL HELD AT INTERNATIONAL VISION UNIVERSITY”


As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, International Vision University hosted a panel titled "Radio and Television Broadcasting and Copyright Law." The panel was organized by the Turkish Radio and Television Broadcasters Association (RATEM), with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and UNESCO Turkey National Commission. This year marked the 14th edition of the "Inter-University Communication Ideas Competition," held as part of the event.

The panel began with opening speeches by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Vecdi Can, Rector of International Vision University, and Mehmet Aydın Şerbetcioğlu, Chairman of the RATEM Board. Moderated by Yusuf Gürsoy, General Manager of RATEM IT, the panel featured experts, artists, and industry representatives from Turkey and the region who discussed current developments in copyright issues in radio and television broadcasting. Significant insights were shared on combating piracy, legal sanctions, and the paths the industry should follow.

The "Inter-University Communication Ideas Competition" aims to protect intellectual works, raise awareness about fighting piracy in broadcasting, and increase media sector awareness. The competition also seeks to create qualified communication ideas and campaigns for visual, auditory, and written media.

Panelists included Erdoğan İshakoğlu, member of the 7th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation of Turkey; Prof. Dr. Aysel Aziz, President of the Turkish Communication Association (ILAD); voice artist and actress Suzan Kardeş; RATEM Vice President İdris Taş; Arif Konak, Representative of the Yunus Emre Institute in North Macedonia; Ömer Rahmi Serim, Representative of TRT North Macedonia; and representatives from the Turkish Embassy in Skopje, who all made valuable contributions.
